Heatio supercharges leadership team with two new appointments

Liverpool-based clean-tech startup Heatio is delighted to announce two new appointments to its senior leadership team.

Neil Norman joins as Chairman of the board and Scott Williams as Chief Product Officer (CPO).

The new appointments are announced as Heatio prepares to launch two initiatives with the Government’s Net Zero Portfolio this summer, following successfully securing £2 million in investment.

Alongside his appointment as Chairman, Neil joins Heatio as one of the investors in what was an oversubscribed investment round for the company, which was supported by Brabners LLP, and led by Ascension, with support from several co-investors, including Conduit Connect, The Syndicate Room, Baltic Ventures and LYVA Labs.

Neil, previously Founder and CEO of MSite, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of developing and scaling organisations in the deep tech sector and will lead the team as they look to establish Heatio as the formative technology platform driving the transition to clean domestic energy.

Further strengthening the management team, Scott Williams joins as CPO to drive Heatio’s product vision, strategy and execute its innovative processes. Scott has years of experience building product capabilities and assets that digital businesses need to scale quickly. He has worked for organisations such as Google, Habito and Kugu Home, as well as running his own business.

With a focus on strategic planning, collaboration, and innovation, Heatio is poised to support more homeowners adopt low-carbon technologies and deliver the UK rollout of the Heatio smart home energy platform.

Heatio's intelligent energy platform gives users real-time energy insights to optimise their smart home technology. Using AI and machine learning, it will manage technologies such as solar panels, heat pumps, EV chargers, and batteries, to help users save money, and reduce reliance on the grid and their impact on the environment.

Scott said: “I’m excited to join this incredible team, who all have a passion and determination to make renewable sources of energy for the home more accessible and with it, reduce people’s energy bills and accelerate the UK’s drive to net zero.”

Neil added: “Heatio is at the forefront of our transition to clean, affordable energy in the home with its innovative platform. I am proud to be supporting Simon, Tom and the team to realise their ambition to the full.”

Neil and Scott are the latest editions to the Heatio team, which over the past year has seen Adam Sroka join as Fractional Chief Technical Officer, James Booth appointed as Sales Manager, Gareth Cowley appointed as Installations Manager and Lisa Clark appointed as Office Operations Manager.

Simon Roberts, Chief Executive, co-founded Heatio in 2022 with Thomas Farquhar.

He said: “When we launched Heatio two years ago, our vision was to help more consumers access green technology and reduce the use of fossil fuels to decarbonise their homes. Our small team has gone from strength to strength and now with Neil and Scott’s appointments and the wider team, we enter an exciting new chapter of growth and industry leadership. We are in a great position to expand and we're confident that our strong leadership will propel us to new heights and solidify our position as a trusted leader in the energy sector.”

Heatio is involved in two initiatives within the Government’s Net Zero Portfolio. Working with E.ON and Energy Systems Catapult, Heatio will provide a new renewable technology subscription called The Home Energy Subscription in a pilot contract for 350 homes in the North West that will eliminate upfront costs for consumers considering heat pumps, solar PV, or battery storage. Heatio is also working in partnership with Perenna Bank and Energy Systems Catapult to offer a long-term fixed-rate retrofit mortgage that rewards homeowners with a preferential interest rate for retrofitting their homes with low-carbon technologies, driven by the Heatio platform.
